Commonly Asked Questions

Where are you Located?

Our clinic is located in Kamloops, BC inside the Be Flow Studio 787 Notre Dame Drive.

Accessibility disclaimer: Unfortunately, the clinic has one set of stairs and no wheelchair access at this time. Please email us for more accessible options.

What should I wear?

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. A chest covering or sports bra is recommended underneath for client comfort. We also provide shorts and a shirt at the clinic for you to change into.

What needles are used?

We use a variety of small hypodermic needles. The needles are thinner than acupuncture needles. The needle is quickly removed from the body and no medication is injected.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is necessary. It is advised to have your primary care provider (NP/FP) review your pain prior to your first visit. We recommend a treatment before a planned surgery (such as a knee surgery) to improve function. No medications will be prescribed during your appointment.

Are there any side effects or safety concerns?

After treatment, some people may experience temporary side effects such as:

  • Fatigue or tiredness
  • Bruising or soreness at the treatment site
  • Discomfort, nausea, dizziness, or lightheadedness
  • Muscle spasms (usually manageable during the session)
  • Emotional release (such as crying or feeling giddy)
  • Rarely, pneumothorax (if needling near lung areas)

These effects usually resolve within a few days. We recommend avoiding vigorous exercise for 5 days post-treatment to prevent strain and allow  tissues to heal. There should be a minimum of 3 days between your appointments.

Many people report improved mental well-being once recovered. You may wish to have someone supportive to talk to afterward.

Will I need a follow-up appointment?

Pain may present in new areas after the more serious sites of pain are treated first. We call this process "unravelling the pain." Some clients require 1-4 treatments.

What Does it Cost?

First visit: 50 min, $100.

Follow-up visits: 30 min, $80

What payment options are accepted?

We accept debit and credit payments through our booking page. Cash payment is available in-person.

Does Mino Healing accept WCB or ICBC clients?

Unfortunately, Pacific Blue Cross and Extended Health Care Providers do not recognize Nurse Practitioner services at this time. You can submit a receipt if you have extended wellness benefits or a flex spending account through your employment.

Do you recycle?

At Mino Healing we recycle our gloves instead of sending them to the landfill. We participate in the VitaCore and Planet Impact glove recycling program. All gloves used during your appointment will be collected and recycled into projects in Turtle Island (Canada).

Mask Policy

At Mino Healing, we are pleased that COVID-19 is a thing of the past. Here are some of the things we learned from it:

Masks proved to be an effective countermeasure against people making other people sick. That is why we love our mask policy, and are keeping it.

When our staff and especially our nurse practitioner get sick, we have to cancel your appointments.

Our screening protocol made a noticeable reduction in the rate at which staff got sick, meaning we could be present to attend to you and be available to help you make progress in reducing your pain !

We hope that you agree, and thank you for your cooperation.
